Mr. J. B. Thompson, Chairman of the Park Board
Mr. J. B. Thompson, the Chairman of the Board, has been virtually the godfather of the Park. Sponsoring every scheme that would make for its development, it is to his. foresight,, persistence and dear view of the value of private enterprise that we are chiefly indebted for the Chateau. Now that his plans have borne fruit, and the finest hotel in New Zealand is available for occupation, it is fitting that Mr. Thompson should be the central figure at the ceremony which is the official christening of his charge as a tourist resort of high standing and a meeting-place for New Zealanders with people of all nations.
