NEW DOMINION AWARD
.. In a. new Dominion hotel workers’ award, filed on Wednesday, the Court of Arbitration decrees that the hours to be worked each week without overtime Shall not exceed -IS. It fixes the. rates of wages and clarifies the definition of kit-i-hcii worker. 'The new award differs very slightly from the previous One.
The award comes into force on October 21. 111'29, and shall continue in force until October 21, 1931. In a dissenting opinion, Mr. 1,. J. Schmitt, assessor for the employers, states that he does not agree with the majority of the Court in its decision to include ns kitchen workers those employees who are engaged cleaning plates. He also disagrees with the decision to reduce the span of hours now in operation.
