SYDNEY-PERTH AIR RACE
TWO MACHINES CRASH Australian. Press Assn.—United Service. (Rec. October 4,12.30 p.m.) Sydney, October 3. Two of the aeroplanes competing in the trans-Australia race from Sydney to Perth have crashed. The occupants were uninjured. Heath’s DHSO lost a wheel while attempting to. land between Cook and the Forrest Desert country near the WestAustralian border to-day and smashed both propellers and also the other wheel. AH the occupants, including the Sydney “Herald” representative, .were severely shaken. The machine is now out of the contest, in which it was practically leading. The other machine forced down, owing to engine trouble, was Lee Murray’s Gipsy Moth, which is also out of the contest.
