EXTRA PAY
Dominion Special Service. Auckland, October 2. Recognition of long service by extra pay was arranged for by the assessors or the Auckland Fire Board, and the men who met before the Conciliation Commissioner to discuss a renewal of their award. The rates of pay in the Auckland b ire Brigade service are a little higher than in other parts of the Dominion, but it was decided that in order to encourage suitable men to remain in the service firemen and motor drivers should have their wages increased by one penny a day in each year after the first year of engagement until a total of 15 years has been copipleted. • • The remainder of the new agreemen* is on the lines of the existing award.
