It was to be a real, dyed-in-the-wool, old-fashioned New Zealand dinner, decided the executive of the Canterbury Manu facturers’ Association, discussing arrangements for one portion of the forthcoming jubilee celebrations of the association (re lates “The Sun”). “Let us see all New Zealand stuff bn the tables, and nothing else. No American pickles, for instance,” said one member. Another member had a bright idea. “Does that include South land whisky?” he queried, amid sounds of mirth from other members of the executive.
