Palmerston North, September 30.
The engineer (Mr. 13. Fisher) reported to the Palmerston North River Board this morning that he expected that the new punt would be completed and launched within the next, fortnight. The work of constructing five' heavy’ tree groynes at the erosion on Mr. Gosling's property was nearing completion, and on the completion of this work a breach in the works at Mr. Anderson’s bend would receive attention. As soon as this-work had been carried out a start would be made witli the construction of the regulating groynes for the improvement of the river channel at Mcßae’s Bend and Hopcroft’s Bend. Considerable willow-planting had been done.
