REDUCED SUBSCRIPTIONS.
Subscribers to the lending departments of the city publie libraries have from today the opportunity of taking advantage of reduced subscription rates. In the past, a borrower was entitled to take out one book at a time for each ss. subscription, covering n period of six months. The new rule provides that for a sixmonthly subscription of 7s. 6d. two books may he t alien at one time, three books for 10s., four books for 12s. 6d., and five books for 15s. Subscribers will still be entitled to take out extra books on the payment of 3d. each. Where there are a number in a family, it is anticipated that the revised scale will be made full use of. All the latest books, including novels, . travel, biography, drama, and various books relating to trades, commerce, science, etc., are being addefl- to the libraries. All the libraries are part of one system, and subscribers cards are available at the lending department of either the central. Newtown, Brooklyn, or Karori libraries.
