Of those who opposed Summer Time in the crucial divisioii’ last year,. 19 were beaten at the polls, while of those who supported it, the number beaten was only ten. With these lessons in mind, some of the remaining antiSummer Time members may be inclined to modify their hostility. It is perfectly plain that, outside a very few irreconcilables among the farming community, Summer Time is acceptable to all classes in the Dominion. The halfhour last summer was such a convincing success that, for the coming summer, that much is undoubtedly assured. The question is whether some effort should not be made to have the full hour given-another trial. Furthermore, the period of Summer Time’s application should undoubtedly be extended.—Auckland ‘‘Sun.”
