A MAT ELK I'll AM PION SHIPS. The annual amateur championships con ducted under the auspices of the local Itoxing Association are to be held on Mon dav and Tuesday of next week. A notice regarding tin- closing of entries appears in our advertising columns. The association originally intended to include a professional contest between Connors and Grif liths. but this will not now be held. Following tlie contest between Delaney and Connors on Mondav last an X-ray examination disclosed that 'lio former was suffering from an injury to the loft Jaw necessitating bis cancelling engagements for at least a month, and ho returned to bis home by the Maraina on Friday.
