DRUNK IN CHARGE OF CAR
MECHANIC FINED AND LICENSE CANCELLED. Dominion Special Service. Auckland, August 3. A sequel to a midnight crash in Queen Street last night, when a motorcar struck a safety-zoi , was heard in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. John Hubert Wilde, aged 28, motor mechanic, pleading guilty to being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car. Sub-Inspector McCarth. said accused’s car had beeh extensively damaged when it had struck the safety-zone. When the police arrived on the scene the man was more than intoxicated. He was drunk. “He has never been here before,” added the Sub-Inspector. Wilde had nothing to say and was fined £25, in default two months’ imprisonment His driving license wa» cancelled for twelve months.
