TROUBLE AGAIN LOOMING
MELBOURNE WATERFRONT RESTIVE THREAT TO WITHDRAW LABOUR (United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Australian Press Association. (Rec. August 4, 5.5 p.m.) Melbourne, August 4. Waterfront trouble is again looming. A proposal will be submitted to the Port Phillip Stevedores’ Association on Tuesday that all labour should be withdrawn from the waterfront unless the shipowners attend at “pick-up” points appointed by the Court for the engagement of labour; also that unionists shall refuse to handle boats upon which non-union labour is employed. The Stevedores’ Association states that the majority of their men are on the verge of starvation and are getting no work.
