PLANS OF MILK STATION
REQUEST FROM SYDNEY DEBATED The advisability of supplying sets of prints and plans of the new city milk station dairy led to an unexpected debate at the City Council meeting on Thursday. The request came from the Fresh Food and Ice Company, Sydney, and the Milk Committee recommended that the request be not granted. The Mayor thought the council should be magnaminous in the matter and comply with the request. “Just as we expect help from others so we should give it.” He had had occasion to make requests of that nature in various parts of the world, und he had never been refused. Such plans were published in magazines all over the world. Councillors M. F. Luckie and C. H. Chapman supported. Councillor W. H. Bennett said the city engineer did not favour the idea. The contract would run into many thousands of pounds and at 2J per cent, the charges for the plans should be £2OOO Although he disagreed with supplying the plans, if the c. ..ncll did decide to do so the 2 i per C“nt. should be charged. The Mayor still disagreed, and the chairman of the committee agreed to take the recommendation back for rejwsideratifin.
