MONEY BY FRAUD
FLOGGING ASKED FOB. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hamilton, August 2. A request for a flogging and a torm of probation in preference to imprisonmeat was made in the Magistrate s kourt this” morning by Leslie Alfred John Walters, aged 25, who pleaded guilty to obtaining 30s. by fraud from a Wellington boardinghouse keeper, T. G. Hayman. The accused had three previous convictions for theft and fraud, and a breach of his f probation. He told the Magistrate that bis parents had died nine years ago, and he had been left to his own devices. . In response to Walters request for 2o lashQ?, the Magistrate, Mr. Wilson, said that this was not in accordance with law, and in any case he would not grant the request.
