MOTOR-CAR STOLEN
CHARGE AGAINST MAORI YOUTHS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, August 2. A fortnight ago a car belonging to Frank Hildreth, of Mangawai, Hawke’s Bay, was stolen from his homestead. Two days later it was found capsized and abandoned on the Coast Road, north of Gisborne. A search has been made by the police for two Native youths who, with a Maori girl, have been absent from the locality, and after a strenuous chase over rough country this morning, they were captured. The girl, who had a sprained ankle, had to be carried about a mile. The youths. Jimmy Lawson and Edward Tamai. were charged with stealing the ear. and remanded. The girl was charged with absconding from licensed service. She was also remanded.
