RUGBY RULES
REPLACING MEN INJURED IN FIRST SPELL DISAPPROVED IN AUSTRALIA (Rec. August 1, 8.15 p.m.) Sydney. August S. There is an agitation in Sydney Rugby Union circles to abolish the rule which permits a team to replace an injured player during the first half of the game. This occurred during recent matches between New Zealand and Australia. and is described in the Press as farcical. It is not allowed by the English Rugby Union, and it is argued that it should not be countenanced either in Australia or New Zealand. It is understood that Porter does not approve of the replacement of injured men.
