The Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle) returned to Wellington yesterday.

Commissioner and Mrs. Hay, of the Salvation Army, returned to Wellington yesterday.

Sir George Elliot and Mr. O. Nicholson, of the Bank of New Zealand directorate, arrived in Wellington yesterday.

Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Bradford Leslie, who has been on a visit to New Zealand, will leave by the lonic tomorrow for England.

Major T. M. Wilkes, Director of Air Services, will leave Weiliiigron to-day by the Port Dunedin for London. The appointment of Mr. Janxes Hislop, C.V.0., M.8.E., of 'Wellington, as a member of the National War Funds Council is announced in the “Gazette.” The Rev. Dr. 11. D. A. Major, who has been visiting New Zealand, sailed by the Aorangi on his way back to England. Mrs. Major accompanied him.

The death is reported by a Press Association message from Auckland, of Mr. Charles Frederick Buddle, aged 71, formerly senior partner in the firm of Buddle, Richmond and Buddle, barristers and solicitors.

In the lists of .promotions of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces gazetted yesterday, Lieutenants R. O. C. Marks, D.C.M., Ist C. Battalion; C. F. Norton, Ist Battalion, H. O. Jefcoate, 2nd C Battalion; W. Crawford, 2nd C Battalion, and H. K. Keppenberger, Ist Battalion, are raised to the rank of captain. The Colonial Auxiliary Forces long service medal has been awarded to Captain T. L. Gibbs, Wellington West Coast Mounted Rifles, and to Captain W. H. Jones, 2nd. Cadet Battalion, Wellington Regiment. The Colonial Auxiliary Forces officers’ decoration has been awarded to Major W. F. Stilwell, M.C., N.Z. Artillery. Cabled news has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cohen, of Mnlgrave Street, that their son, Ronald, who left Wellington some three months ago, has passed his qualifying examination for admission to the Royal xlir Force. He will take up his duties in the third week of the present month.

In recognition of the services he had given to the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association, and the work he had done in the interests of returned soldiers, Major J. T. Watson, secretary of the ■Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association, was recently ordered by the executive committee of that body to take a well-earned respite from his labours, as his health was becoming impaired. His many friends will he pleased to learn that since his arrival at Suva Major Watson’s health has greatly improved, and that he is enjoying his holiday. In a cable message from Suva received yesterday by Colonel G. T. Hall, president of the Wellington R.S.A., Major Watson sends his kindest regards and best wishes to New Zealand comrades.
