NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it -‘•x is the intention of the Wellington City Council to introduce in the present Session of Parliament, the WellingtonCity and Suburban Water Supply Amendment Bill. Tlie object; that the said Bill is intended to effect is to amend Section 32 of the Wellington City and Suburban Water Supply Act, 1927, by repealing the words ‘‘Three thousand pounds” in Subsection (1) of the said Section and substituting therefor the words “Five thousand pounds.” A copy of the above Bill has been deposited in the Magistrate’s Court, Lambton Quay, Wellington, and also at the Town Clerk’s' Office, Town Hall, Cuba Street, Wellington, and such copies are there open for public inspection for a period of three full weeks from the first publication of this, advertisement. WELLINGTON CITY & SUBURBAN HIGHWAYS CONSTRUCTION & HUTT ROAD AMENDMENT. 'VOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it 4-’ is the intention of the Wellington City Council to introduce in the present Session of Parliament the Wellington City and Suburban Highways Construction and Hutt Road Amendment Bill. The objects that the said Bill are intended to effect are:— 1. To repeal Subsections (2) to (7) of Section 3 of the Wellington City and Suburban Highways Construction and Hutt Road Amendment Act, 1924, and Section 2 of the Wellington City and Suburban Highways Construction and' Hutt Road Amendment Act, 1927, and to enact in lieu thereof the following Subsections (2)- to (7) inclusive of the said Section 3:— (2) The Board shall consist of Fourteen Members. (8) The present Board shall remain in office until the Thirtieth Day of November, One thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, on which day it shall go out of office and on and aftei l the First Day of December, One thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, the Members of the Board shall be:— (a) The Mayor for the time being of the City of Wellington; (b) Four members, one being a Councillor of and appointed by the Petone Borough Council; one being a Councillor of and appointed by the Lower Hutt Borough Council; one being a Councillor of and appointed by the Hutt County Council, and one being a Councillor of and appointed by the Makara .County Council. (c) Five Councillors of the City of Wellington appointed by the Wellington City Council. (d) One member being a member of the Eastbourne Borough Council, or of the Upper Hutt Borough Council, or of the Johnsonville Town Board, to be from time to time alipointed in writing under the hand of the Mayors for the time being of the .-Boroughs of Eastbourne and Upper Hutt and of the Chairman of the Johnsonville Town Board. (e) Three members to be from time to time appointed by the' Governor-General by warrant after considering any previous recommendations made in that behalf by the Wellington Automobile Chib Incorporated, in. respect of two of such members, and of the Wellington General Carriers and Custom House and Forwarding Agents’ Industrial Union of Employers in respect of the third of such members. (4) The first members to be appointed under paragraphs (b), (c), (d) and (e) of the last preceding Subsection shall be in the month of November, One thousand nine hundred and twentynine, and shall be and continue in office on nnd from the First day of December, One thousand nine hundred and twentynine until the First day of July, One thousand nine hundred and thirty-one, or until their respective successors come into office, but shall be capable of being reappointed. (5) In the month of May, One thousand nine hundred and thirty-one and in the same month in every s-eeond year thereafter, tlie persons entitled to make appointments under paragraphs (b), (c), (d) and (e) of Subsection three hereof' shall make such appointments; and the persons so appointed shall come into office on the First day of July following, and shall hold office until their successors come into office, but shall be capable of being reappointed. (6) In ease of any failure to appoint any member under the provisions of Paragraphs (b), (c), and (d) of Subsection three hereof ‘for two months, the Governor-General may by warrant under his hand make, the necessary appointment.' (7) If any member of the Board holding office under Paragraphs (b), (c) or (d) of Subsection three hereof, ceases to hold office as a member of the local authority appointing him, he shall also thereupon cease to be a member of the Board. If anv appointed member ceases to be a member of the Board tlie person or persons eptitied to appoint the member shall appoint any qualified person in his stead, and such appointee shall hold office for the residue of the term of Tils predecessor in office. 2. To provide that the Act when passed shall, except for certain appointments which may.be made in the month of November. ccme into operation on the First dav of December, 1929.
