IN DIVORCE
ISLAND BAY PETITION. In the Supreme Court yesterday, before the Chief Justice (Hon. M. Myers), Carrie Brindle, of Island Bay, sought a dissolution of her marriage with Frederick Brindle, on the ground of separation by agreement. Mr. J. Hanna was for petitioner, and Mr. A. B. Sievwright for respondent Mr. Hanna said that petitioner’s case was that the parties verbally agreed to separate, and had not lived together for three years. Petitioner said they were married at Hulme. Manchester, in 1904. and there were four children. There were quarrels, she alleged, owing to her husband’s drinking. On the children growing up she suggested that he should leave her, and that was agreed upon. He left her. in June. 1990. Evidence was given in sunport by petitioner’s daughter and son as to the behaviour of the respondent before their parents agreed to part Respondent gave evidence to repudiate the alleged agreement of separation, and said he had more than once asked his wife to allow him to go back. Reference was made bv counsel to evidence given by both petitioner and respondent in an action which was before the Court last year. Decision was reserved.
