WHAT DO THEY PORTEND?
The Acting-Secretary. General Post Office, nas received the following from the officer in charge of the radio station. Awauui; — “At (1.35 p.m., the postmaster at Awantii reported that two rockets with red lights had been seen in a direction east-south-east, at approximately 6 p.m. I have communicated with Cape Maria Van Diemen, who states that his vision does not extend east of North Cape; also with Cape Brett, who reports that the tug Lyttelton passed south at 5.30 p.m. (therefore not in question), and a vessel resembling the Maui Pomare passed north about 11 a.m., these being the only vessel* noticed.*
