COMMERCIAL LIBRARY
INTEREST IN PROPOSAL Some weeks ago the Wellington Chamber of Commerce suggested that an up-to-date commercial library should be established in Wellington, and arrangements have now been made for a meeting of those interested in the proposal to be held on August 20, when further consideration will be given to the scheme. The city librarian (Mr. Norrie) is co-operating with the chamber and lias issued a circular to the commercial organisations in the city. “In Great Britain.” says Mr. Norrie in his circular letter, “the most recent development of public library work, which has justified itself in practice, has for its aim the provision of information useful to commercial and business men, commercial libraries having been established by the municipal! ties of Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds. Bradford, and elsewhere. It is now desired to ascertain what demand there is for such a library and what measure of support would be forthcoming towards its establishment from the various commercial and allied organisations in the city.
