VANCOUVER MAIL SERVICE. The Makura, from Vancouver, is due at Honolulu to-day and will sail this evening for Suva, Auckland and Sydney. The Aorangl, from Sydney, which arrived at Auckland on Monday, sailed at 11.15 a.m. yesterday for Vancouver via Suva and Honolulu. SAN FRANCISCO MAIL SERVICE. The Tahiti, from Sydney, via Wellington, Rarotonga and Papeete, is due San Francisco on Friday next. She will sail on the return trip on August 7. The Maunganui, from San Francesco, via Papeete and Rarotonga, which arrived at Wellington on Monday, sailed yesterday for Sydney where she is due on Saturday. ISLAND SERVICES. The Tofua, from Apia, arrived Suva yesterday and will sail again to-morrow for Auckland where she is due on August 5. The Wairuna, from Ocean Falls, is due nt San Francisco to-morrow and will go thence to Los Angeles. " The Unlou Company’s intercolonial passenger steanfer Marama arrived In the stream at Wellington at 4.35 a;m. yesterday from Sydney direct. Pratique was granted, and the ship berthed at 1 north (outer tee), Queen’s WJiarf, shortly before 9 a.m. The vessel sailed from Sydney at 5 p.m. on Friday and experienced a moderate southerly breeze with fine weather until Monday night, when she encountered rough seas and thick rain. The Marama will leave Wellington at 3 p.m. on Friday on the return trip to Sydney. THE GOLDEN COAST. The O. and O. Line’s steamer Golden Coast arrived at Auckland on Sunday morning from Los Angeles with about 2,500,000 ft. of timber, as well as case oil and general cargo, from Pacific Coast ports. She unloaded a small quantity of explosives at the Orakel anchorage, and then berthed to discharge 2000 tons of cargo, including 750,000 ft. of timber, for Auckland. The remainder of the cargo is for Wellington, Timaru, and Dunedin. The cargo was loaded at Noyo, Vancouver, Seattle, Teeoma, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. She sailed from Los Angeles on July 1. Except for a 24 hours’ westerly gale, encountered last Thursday, the weather during the voyage was generally Captain C. E. Hagberg is in command of the vessel, and he has with him the following officers .‘—Chief, Mr. G. H. Johanson; second. Mr. J. P. Johansen; third, Mr. J. J. Grant; chief engineer, Mr. G. PORT GISBORNE LOADING. The C. and D. liner Port Gisborne arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday morning to commence loading for London. She will leave the Otago port to-day to load at Bluff, Lyttelton, New Plymouth, Wanganui, and Wellington. The vessel is due at Wellington on August 13. and is to leave here on August 14 for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland to fill up. The Port Gisborne will sail finally from Auckland on August 24 for New York, Boston, and London. LUMEN BRINGS OIL. Cabled news has been received that the motor tanker Lumen left San Francisco on July 15 with motor spirits for the Shell Oil Co., to be discharged at Auckland and Wellington. The vessel is due at Auckladn on August 10 and at Wellington about August 14. THE MATAROA’S MOVEMENTS. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company advise that their liner Mataroa is to leave Lyttelton to-morrow for Port Chalmers and Bluff to complete discharge. She will commence loading, at Bluff, and Is to load also at Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington. The Mataroa is due at Wellington on August 21, and will sail finally from here on August 28 at 6 a.m. for Southampton and London, via the Panama route. THE PORT DUNEDIN. The C. and D. Line advise that the Port Dunedin will leave Lyttelton to day for Wellington, where she is due to-morrow morning to fill up. REMUERA AT SOUTHAMPTON. Cabled news has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that their liner Remuera arrived at Southampton on Sunday from Wellington, en route to London. The vessel sailed from Wellington on June 22. MESS TABLE GOSSIP. Captain P. Foster, Marine Superintendent of the Union Company, returned to Wellington to-day from Sydney by the Marama. Mr. A. Duckworth, of the Union Company, left Wellington yesterday for Sydney by the Maunganui. The R.M.M.S. Aorangl, which was recommissioned at Sydney recently, is in command of Captain R. Crawford. His deck officers are the following Chief, Mr. D. M. Keith; second, Mr. E. M. Anderson; third, Mr. A. V. Knight; jun third, Mr D. H. Richards; fourth, Mr. J. N. Collins. The Kalkorai was placed in commission at Auckland last week with Captain S. A. Chatfield In command. The following are his deck officers: —Chief, Mr. A. M. Lucas; second, Mr. R. Ainsworth; third, Mr. L. P. Bourke. Mr. J. Dawson has been appointed chief officer of the Walkoiiaitl, relieving Mr. C. H. M. Long who has transferred to the Kaponga in a similar capacity. Mr. N. Archbold has relieved Mr. T. A. Mack as second officer of the Kaimanawa. The latter officer is standlng-by at Auckland. Mr. T. C. Langford, third officer of Kaimanawa, has also left the vessel at Auckland. MISCELLANEOUS. The Corinna will leave Dunedin on Friday via ports for Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth. The Kaiapoi from Melbourne and Hobart is due at Bluff to-night. She will leave to-morrow for Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth and Auckland to complete discharge. The Kaimanawa will leave Auckland today for Westport to load for Wellington and Auckland. The Kaiwarra left here yesterday for Auckland, and from there will go to Gladstone to load coal for New Zealand. The Kamona is to ledve Greymouth tomorrow for Wellington. The Kartigl, from Auckland and Castlecliff, is due here to-day. She will leave later in the day for Lyttelton, DuneUln and Bluff thence 'to Melbourne and Hobart.
