T. G. MACARTHY TRUST
TRIBUTE TO LATE SIR CHARLES SKERRETT,. At the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the T. G. Macarthy Trust, held in Wellington on Monday, the Public Trustee brought before the notice of the Governor-General and the other members of the board, the loss which tlie Advisory Committee, in common with many other bodies and activities. had sustained by the lamented death of the late Sir Charles Skerrett. Mr. Skerrett, as he then was, was appointed to the Advisory Committee at its inception in 1912, and the Public Trustee stated that from his close association with the late Sir Charles in connection with the work of the Macarthy Trust, he could testify to the keen interest and wide experience which were brought to bear b.v him in the consideration of all matters coming before the committee. Any advice which was tendered by him with regard to any application for a grant, was at all times quite impartial, the interests of the trust as a whole always being regarded by him. On the motion of the Governor-General, seconded by the Rt. Hon. Sir. Joseph Ward, it was resolved: “That this board desires to place on record its sincere sense of the loss sustained by the death of the late Sir Charles Skerrett, who was for many years a member of the Advisory Committee to the board, and in that capacity rendered most valuable and impartial services in the interests of the T. G. Macarthy Trust."
