ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR SENIOR B GRADE
SENIOR FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY WEEK
The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union was held last night. Mr. J. N. Millard presided, and there were also present; Messrs, H. E. Nicholls, R. J. Mcllraith, H. D. Morgan, T. J. King, A. J. Griffiths, G, F. W. Jackson, H. Murphy, W. H, Stainton, G. W. Bradley, Professor E. J. Boyd-Wilson, and A. E. Neilson (secretary). The following transfers were approved: G'. Scott, from Berhampore to Eastbourne; G. Phillips, from Selwyn to Wellington. Permission was granted to play the following house matches Police v. City Milk Department, at Kilbirnie Park today; Shell Oil Company v. A. S. Paterson and Co., Ltd., at Kelburn Park, June 26.
The Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Associating wrote thanking the Union for allowing limbless soldiers to attend matches free of charge. The Eastbourne Club wrote withdrawing its third grade team from the competition. The request was granted, and it was decided that each team which has not already played Eastbourne in the competition should be credited with wins by default. Senior B Grade. A deputation from the clubs which have senior B teams ifl the competition, consisting of Messrs. Dudding (Hutt). De Clifton (Selwyn), and S. Shearer (Johnsonville) waited upon the committee, the proceedings being taken in committee. After resuming in open meeting, the acting-chairman announced that it had been derided to accept the suggestion of the deputation to appoint an advisory, selection committee of three to act in conjunction with the sole selector for the purpose of choosing trial teams for the Senior B grade, It was also decided that nominations should be called for from , all clubs which have teams in the senior B grade when teams had to be selected for trial matches. A request by the deputation that sets of numbers should be provided for Senior B teams was also agreed to, one set of numbers to be supplied to each clubMatches With Taranaki. The Taranaki Union wrote, confirming July 3 as the date of the TaranakiWellington match at Hawera. It was also decided to ask the Taranaki Union to endeavour to send a team to play a match at Wellington on September 21, on which day the Wellington Union has a vacant date at Athletic Park. Should Veterans Play in Junior Grade? I Considerable discussion took place on the question of whether ex-senior players should be allowed to play in junior grade matches, and it was decided to ask the Junior Advisory Committee to express an opinion upon the subject. Senior Fixtures for Saturday Week. The following senior fixtures were drawn for Saturday week: — SENIOR A. Old Boys v. University, at Athletic Park. _ „ Poneke v. Berhampore, at Kelburn Park.
