Strong northerly winds and rather rough seas in the Eastern Tasman, but a change to southerly gales advancing rapidly from the west, with rising seas. Weather unsettled, with general rain developing. Heavy falls at many places, especially In the South Island. Temperatures becoming cold. Some snow in Canterbury and Otago.
