FREE AMBULANCE

FORMATION OF LADIES’ AUXILIARY

At a meeting held in the Mayoress’s room yesterday afternoon it was decided to form a Ladies’ Auxiliary in connection with the Wellington Free Ambulance, with the object of being helpful in every possible way to the movement which is making itself so beneficially felt in this city and its environs. The execu-, tive officers appointed were as follow:— President, Mrs. C. J. B. Norwood; hon. treasurer, Mrs. McGowan; hon. secretaries, Mesdames E. P Norman and Carter; and a committee of twenty. Already 62 members have been enrolled, and as the annual subscription is only 2s. 6d. per annum, it is anticipated that that number will be. doubled in a very short time. The objects of the auxiliary are to promote social entertainment's and functions, street days,' etc., with the object of providing money for the erection and maintenance of the new ambulance station.
