An unusual remark was made in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court when the driver of a car which was overturned in a collision was asked to estimate the speed of a car which the police sought to prove was responsible for the accident. “I would not like to estimate his speed,” he said. “I would not be giving a fair deal to the other motorist if I did.”
An increased popularity in road cycling is noticeable in Napier and district since the concrete road to Hastings was opened. A spin to Hastings along the paved highway is now a regular Sunday morning outing among some youthful bicyclists, and on the occasion of a recent important football match in Hastings many of the Napier spectators proceeded to the game by bicycle.
