FIFTEEN EARTHQUAKES A DAY

JAPAN’S BUILDING PROBLEM. Hirohito, Emperor of Japan, is the ruler of a country which averages 15 earthquakes a day. Since the great disaster of 1923, which destroyed Yokohama and Tokio, 27,097 earthquakes have been recorded in the country. Two-thirds of this number were felt only by the seismograph, but the remainder were perceptible to human faculties.
