WAIRARAPA EXHIBITION
ART LECTURES ARRANGED. Masterton, May 3. Four lectures on art, and kindred subjects have been arranged by the Art School of the Wairarapa Industrial and Art Exhibition. On Tuesday, May 21, Professor Rankine Brown, of Victoria College, will lecture on “Greek Vase Painting,” - and will illustrate the lecture with several lantern slides. During the evening songs will be contributed by Mrs. H. Francis, Mrs. W. G. Perry assisting at the piano. On Thursday evening Mr. Johannes C. Andersen, of the Turnbull Library, will lecture on “Maori Art,” and this lecture also will be illustrated. “Early New Zealand Records” will be the subject of a lecture to be delivered in the drill hall on Tuesday, May 28. by Mr. R. J. Barton, author of “Earliest New Zealand.” Mr. Barton has made a special study of literature relating to old New Zealand, and his address will embody some ‘early history of the Wairarapn. ... • m The fourth lecture of the senes will he on the subject, “A Comparison of Ancient and Modern Art,” and will be delivered in the drill hall on Thursday. May 30. by Mrs. F. H. Taylor. This address will take the form of nn informal chat on art generally.
