TRAGEDIES IN CANADA Australian Press Association. Vancouver, April 30. Murder and suicide stalked in Western Canada on Monday and Tuesday. At Vancouver Frank Marteri shot and killed Maggie La Fae, 24, a pretty dance champion, when she refused to leave her husband and accompany Marteri on a dance tour. The girl spent the night in an hotel room pleading with the killer. After shooting her Marteri shot himselfx dead. At Fort William a whole family, except the mother, was wiped out, when Mike Walchen choked his three children, Charles, 7, Francis, 5, and Norman, 2. The man’s body was later found on the railway tracks. The couple were separated.
