With miniature tides that rise and fall, a model of the River Mersey and Liverpool Bay has been made by a Liverpool engineer. The tides move by mechanical means, in true proportion to Nature, taking 126 seconds between high tides. The word “engine.” which occurs in Chronicles 11., 26, 15, and Ezekiel, 26, 0, is used in the old English sense of a tool or implement, and means a military machine, or implement of war, such as a giant catapult or battering ram.
