Meteorological Office, Wellington, Wednesday, May 1, 1929, 4 p.m. A series of low-pressure waves extends between the Chathams and Tasmania. An anti-cyclone is advancing on to. Eastern Australia. Moderate to strong south-west to north-west winds, reaching gale force at times about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Seas rather rough south of Cape Egmont, rough in Foveaux Strait, and still a considerable swell south of Castlepoint; elsewhere moderate. Moderate to strong south-west to north-west winds in the Eastern Tasman Sea. Rather rough seas in the southern portion and moderate in the northern portion. Weather mainly fair but cloudy in districts with a westerly aspect, with some scattered showers. Some Inland frosts in the South Island, but temperatures otherwise moderate.
