TEACHER MURDERED

ARREST OF GERMAN PUPIL , Australian Press Association. Strasbourg, April 29. The finding in the woods of the body of a murdered English teacher, Miss Eva Brand, led to the disclosure of a remarkable story. A young blacksmith, Charles Bentz, is alleged to have confessed that he had an English lesson from Miss Brand, and followed her into the woods and strangled her. He took her valuables and went to his sweetheart’s house and confessed to the deed. He fled soon after. A young woman saw Bentz hanging from a tree and cut him down. He recovered. The police overtook him on the river bank. Bentz swam the stream and discarded his clothes as he resumed his flight. He was captured after a long pursuit.
