HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES
OPPOSITION TO PROPOSED REDUCTION Palmerston North, April 19Strong exception to the proposal to reduce the heavy traffic fees was made by the chairman (Councillor Campbell) at a special meeting of the Oroua County Council to-day. He said there was no possible doubt but that the heavy lorry did the most damage and to reduce its fee was not only going to deprive the local bodies.of revenue, but it was also placing them at a disadvantage in regard to the heavy maintenance costs which were largely brought nbout by the heavy lorry traffic.
