DIRT TRACK RACING

KILBIRNIE STW.DIUM. Competitors have been assiduously practising the broadsiding art on the cinder track at the Kllblrnie Stadium, including the Australian riders, and have pronounced the track as firstclass and in excellent condition for the opening night. The lighting arrangements were tried out last night, and they will be a revelation to those who attend the Stadium, which is brilliantly lit up with 120,000 candle-power flood lights. To cope with the large crowd a one-minute car service will run from Courtenay Place and will stop right alongside the stadium. The wide interest shown in the sport is demonstrated by the requests for reserved seats which have been received from all parts of the North Island, and the box plan is just about full. There is plenty of room, however, as the stadium has seating accommodation for 12,000 spectators. The ground will be officially opened by Councillor M. F. Luckie, in the absence of the Mayor, and those arriving early will be entertained by the Miramar Brass Band..
