HUTT FOOTBALL CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING The annual general meeting of the Hutt Rugby Football Club was held last night, about 75 members being present. Sir Alexander Roberts was in the chair. In their annual report the Management Committee stated that the past seasons activities had been disappointing, form throughout the grade being below standard. However, numerous new players have been transferred to the district, and the prospect of securing many new members is good. Fourteen new members were enrolled last evening, including three senior players, M. D. Reid, of Marist Brothers Old Boys, Napier; K. Y. Robinson, a wing-thr6e-auarter from Manawatu; and an old membar of the club, E. Hurrel, who has represented New South Wales. During a general discussion, the question was raised whether a boy eligible to play In the fifth grade should be permitted to nlay In a higher grade. A motion that a recommendation bt: made to the Management Committee advising them to make it impossible for boys under 17 to Play in a grade higher than the fifth was defeated. The question of. providing a floor' to the gymnasium was-raised. It was pointed out that now a floodlight has been erected on the training ground a great deal of training can be carried out in the open.. The present floor is of sawdust (it being impossible for the club to obtain tin last season), and this in a week's time becomes so dirty that the health of players was endangered. It was nlso pointed out that if tlie gymnasium were floored it epUld be used as a social hall. The club had a certain sum in hand which could be used for the purpose. • It was decided that a recommendation be made to the Management Committee that a floor be laid down In the gym"Tbo gymnasium will open for training on Tuesday next.
