MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE

CHAIRMAN EULOGISED. Wanganui, March 7. At the conclusion of the Municipal Conference this morning an excellent tribute was paid to Mr. W. J. Rodgers, Mayor of Wanganui, on the efficient manner in which he had conducted the affairs of the conference, by Mr. G. Baildon, Mayor of Auckland. Mr. Baildon said on behalf of the delegates present: "I wish to pass a vote of thanks to the Wanganui City Council for the splendid manner in which they have catered for the convenience of the delegates at the conference. In my civic experience I have attended numerous conferences, but I have never attended one where the business was more expeditiously carried through than the Wanganui conference, presided over by Mr. Rogers, and I congratulate him on the manner in which the conference was conducted and the arrangements made.” (Applause.) In reply. Mr. Rogers thanked Mr. Baildon and delegates for their expressions of appreciation, and said he had always tried to be fair. The next Municipal Conference will be held at Invercargill.
