Marton,' March 7. At the Junction euchre party and dance last evening there was a large attendance and an enjoyable time was spent. The ladies’ prizes went to Mrs. Vinten (first) and Miss M. Clark (second), while Mr. R. Whale (first) and Mr. Carey (second) won the men's prizes. A novelty dance was won by Miss Guy and Mr. Faulding. At the Magistrate's Court ,Francis Hawke Cash, of South Makirikirl, was charged that at Bonny Glen he did cruelly 111-treat a lamb with two legs broken, by omitting to destroy it. The police stated that the lamb bad been left in a paddock without water or shelter for several days. The Magistrate convicted and lined Cash £l, with costs 10s. On the Hunterville bowling green, the Chisholm Buttons competition is creating great interest, and though play started only last Wednesday the trophies have been held by three different pairs. The first pair to be successful were Stevens and Greenwood, who were challenged and defeated by Paul and Chisholm, who in turn were challenged by I’etherick and Ansley and defeated again. Two more challenges are In and will be played off this week. Forbes: V.G.'s L.S., Sister Hansen: V.G.'s L.S., Sister Allison: secretary, Bro. C. Good; treasurer, Bro. J. Harris; Warden, Bro. W. Bromley; guardian. Bro. Bring. Four honorary members were elected. The D.C.M. presented a jewel to Sister Forbes, 1.P.N.G., in recognition of her twelve months’ work in the lodge.
