Owing to Commander Hall. R.N.R., having had a slight accident, the Sea Scout annual Inspection will not take place this week-end, but on March 15 to March 18. Although the Wellington Sea Commissioner, Commander Young, R.N., is now convalescent, he will, however, be unable to attend this year's, inspection. Scouters desirous of entering for the Wood Badge are reminded that the course will commence this week-end. Candidates should report at “Wlrihana” hot, Lowry Bay, not later than 3.15 on Saturday, March 9. The District Commissioner of Wellington and District Commissioner of Palmerston North put in a pleasant hour last week at Palmerston. The more often district commissioners and Scouters meet, the better will the Scout spirit be spread and the progress of the movement generally be advanced. In this respect the Assistant District Commissioner for Christchurch was In Wellington during the past week. I Last week St. Peter’s Seouts had an Interesting night on Seout signs for use when hiking and tracking. The District Commissioner added quite a number of useful signs, telling an interesting /story of actual happening when tracking, to use the signs, how to read and how to disguise them. The Rev. Harris and Scouter Olsen were also present. Last Friday night the Ngfilo Troop received a visit from Scoutmaster Ralph with a patrol of eight Scouts of Otakf Troop, the evening being spent in troop work and games, in which the Otaki boys took part. Later the opportunity was taken to present to Mr. .Ralph (on behalf of the Ngalo Troop and committee) a swastika as a token of appreciation for all that was done for the N'gaio Troop by Mr. Ralph and his troop while at camp at Otaki during the Christmas holidays. The presentation was made by Captain Johansen, troop chairman. Scoutmaster Ralph suitably replied. The following badges were presented to Scouts of the Ngaio Troop; —A. Munro, King’s Scout and Public Healthman’s; W. Christian, King’s Scout: R. Percival, second class. Pathfinder’s. Cyclist’s; J. McLeod, second class, Cook’s and Handyman’s; R. Smith, first grade. All-round Cord and Swimmer’s; H. Blake, Cook’s and Handvman’s; H. Jacobs, two service stars; H. Findlay, Tenderfoot and second class; A. Davies, Tenderpad; G. Drew. Cub coat badge: H. Johansen, second Cub star. The work of the ladies’ committee in the arranging of supper was greatly appreciated.
