CHICAGO’S CRIME FIGURES Australian Press Association. Chicago, March 3. The Health Department has announced that there were 498 murders iri the city in 1928. Homicide far outranks some of the common diseases in mortality, and even surpasses influenza. The. .killing rate is 16.1 per 100,000. In other words, put of every 79 persons who died one was killed by violence.
