NEEDS OF MODERN YOUTH
NOT CRITICISM BUT EXAMPLE PARENTS TAKEN TO TASK (United Press Association^—By Electric (•jqSpXdoo—•qdsjSeiei (Australian t Press Association.) (Rec. March 4, 10 p.m.) Sydney, March 4. The Bishop of Bathurst, Dr. Crotty, in a sermon last night, said that what modern youth wanted was not so much critics as examples. “Parents to-day,” he said, “are preoccupied with material tasks, and do not so much lead their offspring as follow them with an almost comical gluttony on their youthful hunt. I have no desire to condemn the middle-aged to a life of joylessness, but when middle age and old age vacate the throne of moral leadership to scramble with youth for the fleshpots of existence the depths of treachery to God and man surely have been reached. The Church, instead of fuming against modern youth, should do something to save it from the things which are poisoning and unbalancing it.”
