FINED FOR BOOKMAKING
ADMISSION BY LABOURER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, March 2. An hour or two after his arrest this morning on a cluirge of bookmaking, Robert Francis Singe, wharf labourer, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr. McKean, S.M., and pleaded guilty. The police said Singe was only in business in a very small way, and had £l4 11s. 4d. on him when arrested. He was married, with two children, and had been obliging clients for the last three months. He was not making & living out of it, and had promised to give it up. Mr. McKean: Yes, I expect he has when he finds it expensive. A fine of £l5 was imposed.
