NEIGHBOURS’ DISPUTE

ALLEGATIONS BY INJURED MAN. Dominion Special Service. Auckland, March 3. John L. Appleton, aged 41, single, was admitted to the Te Kuiti Hospital on Saturday suffering from a compound fracture of the skull. A successful operation was performed, but Appleton’s condition Is still critical. On account of the seriousness of the injuries a deposition was taken, Appleton stating he was the owner of a farm twelve miles west of Te Kuiti. He had a dispute, he alleges, with two neighbours ever a boundary question, and in the course of it be was struck on the head by a stone. He managed to get to his whare, where be was discovered by a passer-by and brought to the hospital. A sequel occurred to-day when John McKay Smith, and Neils Theodore Larsen, two neighbours, were arrested and charged in the Magistrate’s Court at Te Kuiti with assault and causing actual bodily harm. They were remanded on bail to to-morrow morning.
