LAUNDRY ACCIDENT

CLAIM FOR COMPESATION. The echo of an accident which occurred In the Empire Laundry Company’s laundry on February 6 last was heard in the Arbitration Court yesterday, when John Horsley, a fireman, claimed £4 per week from the date of the accident, as compensation for the injuries he had received through the bursting of a blowdown pipe of a boiler, which badly scalded his right foot. _ Mr. P. J. O’Regan appeared for plaintiff, and Mr. H. F. O’Leary for defendant company. After hearing the evidence of Dr. Rhind and Dr. Geisen, it was agreed that the case should stand over until the next sitting of the Court, in order that plaintiff, who had a foot wound which would not heal, could, if he so desired, go into hospital for rest and treatment. Lt was agreed that the plaintiff receive £lB arrears of compensation, and that £4 a week should be paid him weekly in the meantime by the defendant company, which had been making defendant certain weekly payments since the accident. Mr. Justice Frazer presided at the hearing, and had with him on the bench Mr. G. T. Booth (employers’ assessor) and Mr. A. L. Monteith (workers’ assessor). z
