CYCLING CARNIVAL

» — The cycling carnival which Is to be held on the Basin Reserve this evening for Hie benefit of the Port Nicholson Road Cvcling Club, promises to be quite a success. T. Oakley, New Zealand track champion, F. Grose, Canterbury champion, and M. Gane, Wellington champion, are scheduled to meet in a two-miles match pursuit race. This event alone should be well worth witnessing. In addition, there arc numerous other cycling events. Including “buck-jumping,” “mlss-and-out,” and lady's bracelet races on .cycles. Included In the programme is the Olympic Amateur Athletic Club’s challenge against the 'Varsity Club for the Heenan Relay Baton. This Is the first challenge for two years. Other athletic events include 73-yardu and 100-yards for ladies, and 100 and 200 yat;ds open.
