NEW INVENTION

RAILPLANE DRIVEN BY AIR PROPELLERS

(United Service.)

London, February 24. The “Sunday Chronicle” say that the inventor, Mr. George Bennie, has been permitted to use a North-Eastern Railway siding to carry out shortly a revolutionary experiment in the running of a cigar-shaped railplane driven by air propellers. The car is suspended from an overhead monorail, and the track is supported on trestles which would permit construction over existing railways and roads. The inventor claims that the car is capable of 120 miles an hour with passengers and mails. The design allows the car to rise slightly by air, thereby avoiding the friction and weight on the rails.
