The use of a room at the Technical School has been granted to the Mid-Can-terbury Aero Club for the purposes of instruction classes, which will be commenced at an early date (says the “Guardian”). Courses of instruction are now being prepared, and a number of largescale charts have been obtained for the use of classes which are now forming. Trainee members will thus be able to obtain a great deal of useful information that will reduce their hours of training when the club is in full operation, and this will consequently lower their training fees. Over 40 trainee members have been signed up, and considerable enthusiasm is being displayed by members, the number of whom is increasing daily. Paul Evans had a story to tell when he appeared in the Christchurch Magistrate’s Court, charged with riding a bicycle on the footpath. “I asked a gentleman where an address was,” said defendant. “I was told it was round the corner, and we both went round that way. The road was rough, and all the cycle marks led on to the footpath. I rode there, but unfortunately the gentleman of whom I had asked the address was a policeman, and he collared me.” Defendant was fined 10s. and costs.
