KARORI CLUB’S SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP, TO CHING

The Karorl Rifle Club fired over the 300 and 500 yards ranges on Saturday, this being the final shoot of the club championship, handicap aggregate, Johnston Memorial Cup, Collins Memorial Cup, and the Judd and Randall aggregate. Conditions were Ideal and good scores were registered. At the initial range L. Old, H. Boon, jun., and F. W. Ching returned 46 each, W. J. Haase, Judd, and J. King being next with 45. At 500 yards L. Old and 11. V. Croxton each scored 48, B. Tasker following with 47. Top scorer for the day was L. Old with 94. Results are as follow:—

The competition to decide the champion of the club for the season consists of eight shoots, four - at the short ranges and four at tho long ranges; oue short and one long range shoot must be dropped. The club champion for the season is F. W. Ching, who finished three points ahead of H. V. Croxton. The winner's aggregate Is 536, which gives the fine average of 44.6. F. W. Ching has been club champion on three previous occasions, and Is one of the club’s most consistent shots, very seldom falling to be in the picture in any competition. Handicap Aggregate.

The conditions for the handicap aggregate are the same as for the club championship, with the addition of handicaps. The highest aggregate was returned by H. Boon, jun., with a net score of 538, of which 23 points were by way of handicap. Boon has performed well in securing first place, this being only his second season with the rifle. Last season’s winner, J. McKelvle, occupied second place with a net score of 532. Johnston Memorial Cup. The Johnston Memorial Cup competition resulted in a win for the club’s popular president, H. V. Croxton. The conditions are the five shot range shoots of the club championship, plus seven shots each at 300, 500, and 600 yards. President Croxton finished five points ahead of the runner-up, F. W. Ching, and with the fine average of 45.5 for each ten shots. Collins Memorial Cup. The conditions for the Collins Memorial Cup are the same as for the Johnston Memorial Cup, but the competition is confined to handicap men, handicaps to be added to the score made. The winner of this competition was H. Boon, jun., whb finished two points In the lead of J; McKelvle, the runner-up. Judd and Randell Aggregate. The eight shoots of the championship series, together with seven shots each at 300, 500, 600, 800, 900, and 1000 yards, make up the aggregate for the Judd and Randell Aggregate competition, handicap men with handicaps Included. This resulted in a win for H. Boon, jun., his aggregate being one better than H. V. Croxton. Boon has had a particularly successful season, and his record is worthy of mention. It is as follows:— Bertram Cup. first place; C.A.C. Cup, third place; WitCbmbe and Caldwell Cup, first place; Club Championship, third place; Handicap Aggregate, first place; Coßins Memorial Cup, first place; Judd and Randell Aggregate, first place.
