At the anniversary festival dinner in London of the Printers’ Pension Corporation. over which Sir Gomer Berry presided, two high compliments .>vere paid to the daily newspaper. The first came from Mr. Nevill Chamberl-aiu the Minister of Health, who said he sometimes thought that the daily newspaper represented an achievement than which none in our modern civilisation was more marvellous. Wth its hurry one did not expect to find In its pages great literature, but one found rhut every day “leaders” and articles were produced which, both for their content and in form and style, were not unworthy to be placed alongside the writings of the great essayists of the past. The second tribute, Mr. Justice McCardie’s. was in respect of the "ex traordinary accuracy” of the press. He read the columns of newspaper.-, daily to see if he could 'fimj an error in the reports of cases in his court, but so far he had been unable to detect one.
