Moderate and variable winds at first, but northerlies prevailing soon r nte freshening to gale force at places. Seas generally smooth to mioderatc, but rising shortly in New Zealand waters. Strong northe y to gales with rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather unsettled, cloudy, and misty, with rain in districts with .a westerly aspect, and later rain becoming general with some heavy falls; thunder probable at places.
