TROUBLE BREWING AT HANKOW
i < COOLIE KILLED BY 1 JAPANESE (Australian Press Association.) Shanghai, January 10. Trouble is brewing at Hankow in consequence of the refusal of the Japanese authorities to compensate the family of a rickshaw coolie who was killed by a Japanese marine motorcyclist recently. More than 9000 Chinese employees of Japanese concerns struck work to-day. and a general ~ strike is feared against the Japanese. A boycot. is spreading. The Chinese Foreign Minister warn- g ed the Japanese Consul that the res- o ponsihilify for the trouble rests on the latter. Posters denouncing the Japanese 1 are appearing everywhere in Hankow. ■ Japanese marines are patrolling the 1 boundaries of the Concession. s
